Expressing his deep sorrow, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation (NFC), Ali Nuhu, highlighted how recent deaths within the movie industry have taken away legendary filmmakers from the country.

In a statement released in Abuja and signed by the Director of Public Affairs of NFC, Brian Etuk, Nuhu conveyed his sentiments.

He specifically mentioned the passing of Saratu Gidado (known as Daso) and John Odonwodo, popularly called Junior Pope, as devastating losses for colleagues and stakeholders in the film world.

Within a week, the industry faced these losses, leaving a somber atmosphere among Nigeria’s cinematic community.

Nuhu emphasized how the continuous departure of renowned filmmakers has significantly impacted and influenced the growth of Nigeria’s film sector.

He ensured that their legacy in shaping Nigeria’s film industry will forever be remembered.

Reflecting on Gidado’s career, Nuhu highlighted her popularity among Nigerians, especially for her roles in various Kannywood productions.

Odonwodo was lauded for his portrayal of professional skills and captivating performances, leaving a lasting impression on audiences.

Recognizing Mr. Ibu’s comedic talent that brought laughter and joy, Nuhu acknowledged the void left by these distinguished individuals.

The NFC head reiterated the organization’s commitment to backing film industry policies that enhance a safe working environment, including provisions for medical, health, and life insurance for stakeholders.

Nuhu also extended his condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, as well as the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), praying for comfort and peace from the Almighty.
