Kyle Fletcher brings up screwdriver screwjob to Don Callis in AEW

Kyle Fletcher and Konosuke Takeshita were screwed by Kazuchika Okada in the Continental Classic at Worlds End a few weeks ago in December. The new year holidays came and went, but that story angle hadn’t been mentioned in AEW. Granted, Takeshita and Okada were busy with headlining matches at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom. Fletcher finally brought up the issue on AEW Collision (Jan. 10, 2026).

Callis was supposedly in Tokyo celebrating Okada’s monumental victory to retire Hiroshi Tanahashi. Also of note, Takeshita lost the IWGP World Championship to Yota Tsuji.

In the scene from Collision, Fletcher confronted Callis about Okada’s treachery in the Continental Classic. Not only did Okada use the screwdriver to beat Takeshita, but he also stole Fletcher’s plan so he couldn’t cheat in his semifinal match against Jon Moxley. Callis brushed off those accusations to claim Okada was the one that was screwed by not keeping the Continental gold. Callis praised Fletcher’s effort in the tournament, then he put the onus back on him. Callis didn’t want Fletcher in the Continental Classic. The Protostar was supposed to focus on getting back the TNT Championship from Mark Briscoe. Callis’ message was not to worry about Okada. Instead, worry about Briscoe and the eventual seventh match in their series. Based on Fletcher’s facial expressions, it looks like he was annoyed by this response from Callis.

This has potential to be an interesting angle moving forward. With AEW, you never can tell how quickly or slowly storylines will progress. Fletcher’s frustration could end up being nothing. Or it could be the impetus for him to break away from the Callis Family for a babyface turn. Just like Takeshita, Fletcher may eventually get tired of Callis’ grifting antics. If Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland can mend fences, then I’m sure Fletcher and Will Ospreay can iron out their issues to at least coexist.
