Govt Officials Travel Limit

Mid last year after a public uproar from the public on frequent travels abroad by government officials President Ruto was forced to announce new travel guidelines for government officials.

In a statement that was issued by Chief of Staff Felix Koskei, indicated that all travel abroad by government officials should not exceed 45 days in a year.

In addition, the guidelines outlined that no government officials should be out of the country for more than seven days in a row.

The office of the Chief of Staff noted that the guidelines were coined because of numerous travel requests from the government officials experienced then.

In an article published by NTV Felix Koskei stated: “Unfortunately, this office has observed a less-than-optimal compliance standard, which has resulted in a breach of some of the prescribed measures, numerous late requests, and consequently, difficulties in obtaining the prudence and cost-effectiveness, objective originally anticipated.”

It is anticipated that the Asante Travel Hub will therefore solve challenges facing government official travel at the same time ensuring adherence to the earlier outlined guidelines.
