Recent unrest and violence in Minneapolis, which resulted in the death of an American nurse, is "concerning", Sir Keir Starmer has said.

Earlier this week, Donald Trump sacked his Border Patrol Commander following the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti earlier this month.

Mr Pretti was armed with a handgun and filming federal officers on a Minneapolis street when the incident occurred on January 24.

Authorities initially claimed Mr Pretti was resisting attempts to disarm him when he was shot, but, video footage appears to contradict the claims, showing he did not draw his weapon during the encounter.

Gregory Bovino has since been removed from his role as “commander at large” and is expected to retire soon, according to The Atlantic magazine, citing officials.

The removal of Mr Bovino, who has been the face of Mr Trump’s mass deportation campaign, is the latest signal the US president is reining in his administration’s most aggressive tactics.

Speaking to reporters en route to Beijing, the Prime Minister said: "I'm not going to give a running commentary on what's happening in other countries.

"I haven't seen all of the details, but what I have seen is obviously concerning."

He added: "I don't think anybody could see some of the footage and not say it's concerning.

"But I'm not claiming to have seen all the footage and all the detail, but of what I have seen, I'd say it's concerning."

Last night, Democrat congresswoman Ilhan Omar was allegedly sprayed with an “unknown substance” after a man angrily charged at her during a town hall meeting in Minneapolis.

The man charged towards the Minnesota representative moments after she called for the resignation of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and for the abolition of ICE.

However, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted Ms Noem continues to hold Mr Trump's “utmost confidence and trust”.

Asked last night whether he would pull federal agents out of Minnesota, Mr Trump said: "We'll do whatever's appropriate."

He repeated his claim meetings between his border tsar Tom Homan and Democrat officials in the state were "going very well".

Justifying his decision to remove Mr Bovino from the state and replace him with Mr Homan, who will now run ICE operations there, Mr Trump stated: "You shake up your team, if they can't do the crops fast enough... we have an incredible team."
