Kebbi’s Emir Of Zuru Passes On At 81

The Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Sani Sami (retd), has passed away at the age of 81.

He died on Saturday in a London hospital following a short illness.

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Garba Umar-Dutsinmari, confirmed his death in a statement made available to journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday.

The late monarch is survived by four wives and seven children.

The Kebbi State Government, in its condolence message, expressed profound sorrow over the demise of the esteemed Emir, describing him as a revered figure whose impact on peace and development in Zuru Emirate and the state remains enduring.

“The government extends its heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of the late Emir, the Zuru Emirate Council, the people of Zuru, and the entire people of Kebbi State.

“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus,” the statement read.

Arrangements for his burial will be communicated at a later date.
