Kano police arrest suspected thugs brandishing weapons on social media
The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected thugs identified as Mohammed Ismail a.k.a. Linga, and Sani Abdulsalam a.k.a. Guchi for allegedly inciting violence and brandishing weapons in viral videos shared on social media. According to a statement by Kano Police Public Relations Officer, SP Haruna Kiyawa on Wednesday, August 27, the duo were apprehended in an intelligence-led operation at Dala Quarters, where they had been mobilising youths and posting videos of themselves wielding dangerous weapons on platforms such as TikTok and Facebook. During the operation, the police recovered a sword and two clubs from the suspects. Kiyawa added that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, ordered their arrest and directed that thorough investigation be carried out. CP Bakori warned that the Command will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute anyone found using social media to promote thuggery or violence.The Command urges parents and guardians to caution their wards against engaging in such acts and other forms of criminality.
