The Kano Emir’s Palace at Kofar Kudu is currently surrounded by heavily armed policemen and operatives of the State Security Service (SSS), with entry and exit restricted.

This security deployment comes in response to Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II‘s plans to install his newly appointed Wamban Kano, District Head of Bichi.

Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II is set to accompany the Wamban Kano, Munir Sanusi, to his official posting in Bichi, which has also been heavily secured by armed policemen.

This move follows Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s invalidation of the five emirs, including Emir Nasiru Ado Bayero, as part of the newly passed Kano Emirate Council Law.

Despite this, the National Chairman of APC, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, maintains that the Bichi Emirate Council and Emir Nasiru Ado Bayero’s reign are still legitimate.

However, a few days later, the same government appointed three second-class emirs, excluding Bichi, which made a district head’s domain.
