This directive follows a report from SaharaReporters highlighting the plea of N-Power beneficiaries from Batch ‘C,’ organized under the National Association of N-Power Beneficiaries. In their communication to the President, they urged him to address the issue of unpaid stipends and requested the summoning of the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Betta Edu, for an inquiry into the prolonged nonpayment

Expressing their dissatisfaction, the beneficiaries, through their National Publicity Secretary, Adeshina Adex, emphasized that the N-Power management had failed to distribute stipends over the past nine months. They revealed that, in the months of October, November, and December 2022, less than 70% of beneficiaries received payments, while the remainder went unpaid. Adex further conveyed that from January to September 2023, no beneficiary received any payment, causing financial uncertainty and despair among the recipients.

On Friday, Mr. Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Minister, released a statement indicating that President Tinubu’s order followed the conclusion of a meticulous verification exercise initiated and completed by the Ministry.

Zubair noted that the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty, Dr. Betta Edu, announced the release of funds, bringing renewed hope for Nigerian youths during the Christmas and New Year festivities. The minister emphasized President Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerian youths through various policies and programs. Additionally, she highlighted her personal dedication, staying at the office until 3 am with the N-Power team to ensure beneficiaries received their payments before Christmas, as directed by the President.

In conclusion, Zubair confirmed that the payment process for N-Power beneficiaries had commenced, and the evidence of the funds being disbursed could be observed in their respective bank accounts.
