The latest Monetary Policy Report (July 2025) from the Bank of Ghana shows a slowdown in job demand across the economy, as measured by advertised vacancies in print and online media.

In June 2025, 2,502 job adverts were recorded, down from 2,968 in June 2024, representing a 15.7% year-on-year decline.

On a monthly basis, vacancies also dropped sharply by 18.4%, compared to the 3,066 jobs advertised in May 2025.

Despite this dip in June, overall labour demand for the first half of 2025 showed some resilience.

A total of 18,604 job adverts were posted between January and June 2025, up 7.7% from 17,278 in the same period last year.

Employment conditions, as reflected by private sector SSNIT contributors, also showed a modest improvement. The number of contributors increased by 2.1% to 1,065,925 in May 2025, compared to 1,044,111 in May 2024.

However, on a month-to-month basis, the figure remained largely flat, barely changing from the 1,067,531 contributors recorded in April 2025.
