JAMES Morrison has revealed he’s found love again following the tragic death of his wife.

The You Give Me Something hitmaker shares two children with his former spouse Gill Catchpole, who passed away last year at the house she shared with the singer and their two daughters in Whitminster, Gloucestershire.

James, 41, tragically found Gill, aged 45, hanged at the property after a pal was unable to contact her.

After a rough 12 months in his personal life, the chart star now appears to have turned a corner.

The Broken Strings vocalist has seemingly found happiness with travel influencer Mariel Jones, a self-confessed “adventurer”, who has proudly featured the musician on her Instagram page.

Amid trips to destinations including Turkey, the stylish blonde showcased an image of them kissing in Rome in July as well as enjoying pasta, pints and gelato, before packing on the PDA in fellow Italian destination, Sicily.

In one snap Rugby-born James, who won a Brit Award for best British male in 2007, can be seen sunglasses-clad and flashing a beaming smile as Mariel wraps her arm around him.

After a trip to Copenhagen just last month, she posted a black and white grid post which kicked off with an image of the pair looking snug.

Her pals were quick to hail the duo “cuties” after she joked in her caption: “Just Copen [hagen.]”

Her grid is also full of travel snaps following trips to Paris and the French Alps, as well as sipping fizz and venturing to trendy bars in the UK.

She has a strong sense of style, often donning bright colours, bandanas and oversized shades and keeping her blonde locks in natural, beachy waves.

It appears to be a happy chapter for James, whose hit songs include, Wonderful World, and who has collaborated with some of singing’s biggest stars including working as a songwriter for Demi Lovato and Kelly Clarkson.

LOVE STORY

As well as finding singing success, James was also lucky enough to find love.

The star was with his partner Gill until her death.

Speaking on the White Wine Question Time podcast, Morrison previously revealed how he met his partner.

James met Gill when she moved in as a lodger at his mum’s house, with her then-boyfriend.

The singer explained: “It wasn’t the easiest start, but I just still see it as a really romantic thing. I’m not very romantic.

“I’m not like: ‘I love romance!’ But I do find certain things romantic and the fact that we met each other the way we did. It’s like a little fairy tale or something!” 

James and Gill’s romance blossomed around three months after the boyfriend had left, but there was another twist in the tale.

James explained: “He got me back. 

“My mum rang me one day. And she said: ‘I’m out on a date. I wonder if you can pick me up?

‘’I said: ‘Where are you?’ And she said: ‘I’m at John’s house.’ And I was like: ‘John’s house? Who’s John?

‘’She said: ’You know, Gill’s John.

“Okay, so I have to go and pick my mum up from my girlfriend’s ex’s house, and it was the most awkward thing! 

‘’But I didn’t like the fact that she said that. So I was like: ‘No it’s not a date. They’re just hanging out.’ Yeah, it was awkward!”

COMMON GROUND

The singer also explained that the early connection with his partner came from music – because her dad was also a musician.

He said: “We just had a connection straight away really. But I had to wait two years to find out if what I thought I felt was real.

“Because I wasn’t going out with her for the first year or so she lived there. She was with her boyfriend, so I was getting to know her.

“And I didn’t want to tell her that I fell in love with her the first moment I set eyes on her because I didn’t know, I never fell in love before.

“So I didn’t really know if it was that. So it was like a massive moment for me to even tell her that I liked her.”

His album You’re Stronger Than You Know was dedicated to his late partner and her strength.

Gill had a difficult pregnancy with her second child, delivering her when she was 16 weeks premature.

James told The Sun at the time: “That’s why now, looking back, I called the album You’re Stronger Than You Know, as Gill was amazing.’’
