Sevilla striker Akor Adams has expressed deep disappointment over Super Eagles’ failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Adams said securing a World Cup ticket would have brought joy to Nigerians amid the country’s current challenges. Nigeria lost 4-3 on penalties to DR Congo on Sunday, ending their hopes of featuring at the tournament to be hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

The forward replaced Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen at halftime after the latter picked up an injury. Although Adams struggled to threaten the Congolese defence, he successfully converted his spot-kick during the shootout.
