An Israeli flag was ripped from the hands of a Jewish student during a pro-Palestine protest at Cambridge University.

Ari Vladimir launched a counter protest as demonstrators occupied university lawns on Monday to protest against Israel’s war in Gaza.

Vladimir said he was shoved by protesters after he arrived at rally outside King’s College.

Around 200 campaigners gathered as chants of "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free" and "Israel is a terror state" were heard.

The first-year history student at Christ’s College said his flag was grabbed and thrown to the ground.

"I came into the protest and unfurled my flag and almost immediately I was pushed, my flag was grabbed and thrown to the ground," he told The Telegraph.

He said he was then moved away by stewards "for my own safety".
