The National Association of Computing Students (NACOS), Federal Polytechnic Ekowe, Bayelsa State, has kicked off an exciting chapter in tech education with their much-anticipated Ekowe CodeFest 2024. The event, which began today, Tuesday, September 3, 2024, promises to be a game-changer for students eager to dive into the world of computing.

Morning Session Highlights:

The day started with a hands-on workshop focused on system fixing and assembling, led by the highly experienced Mr. Prince Adebolu Adeyinka, Senior Technologist at the Federal Polytechnic Ekowe. The session ran from 11:00 AM to 1:45 PM, followed by a short break before the evening activities.

Students were thrilled to learn about various components of computer systems, including the system case, power pack, brass bar, connectors, hard disk, CD-ROM drive, motherboard, Ethernet port, Ethernet cable, and VGA. The workshop provided an in-depth understanding of how these parts work together to create a fully functioning system.

Didi-Omah Augustine Chinazaekpere, the Chapter President, expressed his excitement about the knowledge gained, noting how comprehensive the workshop was. Kingsley Jackson, the Chapter Director for Creativity and Innovation, shared his enthusiasm, describing how the session expanded his understanding of system maintenance and repair.

Key officials from the institution, including Mr. Bethel Okpomu (HOD, Department of Computer Science), Mr. Wari Denyefa (Director, ICT), and Mr. Gideon Opuofoni (Technologist), were present to support the students and witness their progress. Other notable attendees included Mr. Ferdinand Ihe and Mr. Solomon Fems, both lecturers at the institution.
