The Kano State Government has concluded plans to reopen seven toll gates on major entry routes into the state as part of efforts to curb insecurity and monitor vehicular movement.

The Commissioner for Housing Development, Arc. Ibrahim Yakubu Adamu, disclosed this during the handover of the project sites to contractors in Kano.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry’s Director of public enlightenment, Adamu Abdullahi, the commissioner said the decision was aimed at strengthening the state’s security framework through improved surveillance of vehicles entering the metropolis.

According to him, the toll gates will be located along Daura Road, Katsina Road, Gwarzo Road, Zaria Road, Maiduguri Road, Hadejia Road and Sa’adatu Rimi axis.

He noted that the project would not only enhance security monitoring but also contribute to the state’s socio-economic development.

“The state government has resolved to reopen toll gates on major roads leading into the metropolis to boost security and improve the socio-economic apparatus of Kano State,” the commissioner said.

He urged contractors handling the projects to adhere strictly to agreed specifications and ensure timely completion.

The handover ceremony was witnessed by the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Marwan Ahmed, and the Commissioner for Public Procurement, Dr. Nura Ma’aji.

Highlights of the event included the signing of handover documents between officials of the Ministry of Housing Development, the contractors and the project consultant, marking the formal commencement of work.
