ECOPlanet low-carbon cement enters the UAE market with locally sourced materials and a reduced carbon footprint for construction projects.

DUBAI: Holcim has launched ECOPlanet low-carbon cement in the UAE, introducing a locally produced building material designed to support sustainable construction and strengthen the country’s industrial ecosystem.

The new ECOPlanet low-carbon cement is manufactured using locally sourced materials and delivers a 30 per cent lower carbon footprint compared with traditional cement products. The launch comes as the UAE continues expanding its focus on resilient manufacturing, industrial self-sufficiency and environmentally responsible construction practices.

Holcim said the product has been engineered to provide the same durability, consistency and structural performance expected in major infrastructure and commercial developments while helping developers reduce emissions across projects. The company added that the material can be integrated into existing construction workflows without requiring major operational changes for contractors or ready-mix concrete producers.

The ECOPlanet low-carbon cement is already being used by UAE-based ready-mix producer Conmix on an active project, demonstrating the material’s immediate readiness for deployment at scale. Industry observers view the move as an important step towards accelerating the use of lower-carbon materials across the UAE construction sector.

Ali Said, CEO of Holcim UAE and Oman, said the launch reflects the company’s commitment to delivering measurable progress in sustainable construction while supporting national industrial priorities. He noted that the product is manufactured in the UAE using local resources, helping reduce dependence on imported construction inputs.

Holcim is presenting the ECOPlanet low-carbon cement at Make it in the Emirates 2026, where the company is showcasing innovations designed to support future-ready urban development and lower-emission building practices. The product forms part of Holcim’s wider global portfolio focused on sustainable construction solutions.

As regional infrastructure growth continues, the launch is expected to support demand for high-performance materials that align with both environmental goals and long-term economic development strategies in the UAE.
