In a recent session of the Nigerian House of Assembly, Senate President Godswill Akpabio criticised Senator Ali Ndume for his conduct, stating that his actions are unbecoming of a senior member of the Senate and set a poor example for others. This strong condemnation has sparked widespread debate, highlighting the ongoing issues within the political landscape.

Akpabio did not mince words in expressing his disappointment with Ndume’s behaviour, particularly his recent public outbursts. He noted that such conduct is detrimental not only to the unity of the All Progressives Congress (APC) but also to the country’s image. Akpabio stated, “His actions are unbecoming of a senior member of the Senate and set a poor example.”

“His latest tirade, aired during a programme on Arise Television, where he referred to the government of President Tinubu as being run by thieves, portrays Ali Ndume as a person who is bent on running the country down and running the party aground through incitement and cheap propaganda,” Akpabio remarked. He stressed that such inflammatory statements undermine the efforts and achievements of the government and the APC.

“We are of the view that Senator Ali Ndume should honourably resign his membership of the APC and join any opposition party of his choice formally, instead of hiding behind the veil of grassroots activism to decimate the hard-earned decision and goodwill that our party, the APC, is enjoying within and outside the country,” Akpabio continued. This call for resignation highlights the severity of the situation and the need for accountability and decorum among senior members of the Senate.

Akpabio’s statements underscore the importance of maintaining integrity and unity within the ruling party. The criticism of Ndume serves as a reminder of the responsibilities that come with being a senior member of the Senate and the expectations of exemplary conduct. The outcome of this controversy will likely influence the APC’s internal dynamics and its approach to managing dissent within its ranks.

As Nigeria navigates its current political challenges, the actions and words of its leaders are under intense scrutiny. The call for Ndume’s resignation is a pivotal moment, reflecting the need for strong, responsible leadership to steer the country towards stability and progress….Seē _ Morē
