Alex Iwobi has praised the intense and relentless mentality of his Super Eagles teammate Victor Osimhen, describing it as “sick” in a positive sense.

Speaking on the Best Mode On podcast, the Fulham FC playmaker said Osimhen’s drive to win often pushes him to the extreme, both in training and matches.

“Every time in training, he’s always getting hurt because he’s got to put his leg or his head into something that he shouldn’t do. He’s always been fighting,” Iwobi said.

He noted that Osimhen’s rise to the top level is no surprise, attributing it to his work rate and determination rather than technical polish alone.

“Some would say he’s not polished, he’s a bit raw, but Victor will create himself five chances a game just from hard work and running,” he added.

Iwobi also emphasised the striker’s fearless approach, saying he treats every opponent the same, regardless of reputation—even referencing defenders like Virgil van Dijk.

“He doesn’t care who you are… he will fight. He will treat a Champions League game like he’s playing with his friends,” he said.

While acknowledging that Osimhen’s competitive edge can sometimes be excessive, Iwobi insisted it is part of what makes him special.

“He always wants to win, and that mentality is sick. Sometimes it can be over the top… even in training, he wants to win at all costs. Sometimes he cheats, and he knows it, just to win—but that’s his mentality,” he added.
