  • A stolen Ferrari Purosangue crashed into a Miami utility pole.
  • Crash triggered a blackout in the surrounding neighborhood.
  • A Rolls-Royce Cullinan was stolen alongside the Ferrari SUV.

A reportedly stolen Ferrari, a police chase, and a blackout. Florida saw all three collide in spectacular fashion earlier this week when a Purosangue was taken and driven straight into a utility pole, knocking out power and lighting up social media with crash footage. The driver, a man from New York, was later arrested.

Police first became involved on Tuesday morning. The owner of the 2024 Ferrari Purosangue and a 2025 Rolls-Royce Cullinan had arranged for both high-end SUVs to be transported from Meridian Avenue in Miami to a local business.

Several hours later, the business owner called to report that the cars had never shown up.

A GPS tracker was used to quickly find the Purosangue. Footage captured by nearby residents shows the Ferrari making a right turn directly in front of a police cruiser, briefly tapping it before bolting down the street.

The Ferrari appears to have already sustained damage, either from the police contact or before, since it was visibly crab-walking at high speed, with the rear axle clearly misaligned. Just moments later, the vehicle veered off course and slid into a utility pole, causing a fireball of sparks and a power outage in the area.

Police later arrested 28-year-old Deshawn Prendergast from the Bronx. According to Local10, he was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and is currently being held on a $5,650 bond.

He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries before being booked into jail. Authorities have charged him with grand theft of a vehicle, fleeing and eluding police, leaving the scene of a crash involving properly damaged, and reckless driving.

Meanwhile, police located the stolen Rolls-Royce Cullinan without further drama, no chase required.
