Hardy Boyz fail to win TNA tag titles; Jeff Hardy taken out on a stretcher

Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy had a double shot at glory during Thursday night’s Impact (July 18, 2024). Not only were they challenging the System for the TNA World Tag Team Championship, this was also their chance for revenge to finish the feud. Things didn’t go the Hardy Boyz’ way, and Jeff was taken out on a stretcher.

The Hardys reunited in TNA for the first time in seven years. They went to the classics early with Poetry in Motion.

Down the stretch, Jeff was in the groove for a Whisper in the Wind onto Brian Myers and Edward Edwards.

Two Twist of Fates later to Myers, Jeff climbed the corner for a swanton bomb. That is when calamity ensued. Johnny Dango Curtis ran in to shove Jeff off the turnbuckles. The referee saw the cheating and issued a disqualification. The System added injury to insult be damaging Jeff’s neck with a chair and forcing Matt to watch the assault on his brother.

TNA updated the situation with footage of Jeff loaded into an ambulance. On top of that, Matt was informed that his wife was injured too. Reby Hardy put the blame on Dango.

For what it’s worth, Mike Santana dished out justice with a chair to bloody JDC. That issue stemmed from Santana’s personal beef with Dango. They had a singles match, but Santana had enough of JDC’s bullshit.

TNA announced that Matt Hardy will get his chance for payback on JDC in a match at Slammiversary on July 20.

As for the tag champs, Myers and Edwards will defend against Ace Austin and Chris Bey at the PPV.
