Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to step down from his role at the Etihad Stadium following Sunday’s Premier League clash against Aston Villa.

The development follows months of speculation surrounding the future of the 55-year-old Spaniard, despite Guardiola previously dismissing suggestions that the recent FA Cup final could be his last appearance at Wembley as City manager.

City’s narrow 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup final, secured through a goal from Antoine Semenyo, handed the club another domestic cup double and may now serve as Guardiola’s final major triumph in English football.

The reported decision comes at a crucial stage of the season, with City locked in a tense Premier League title race against Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

Before Sunday’s final-day meeting with Aston Villa, Guardiola’s side must first navigate a difficult away fixture against Andoni Iraola’s AFC Bournemouth.

According to MailSport journalist Oliver Holt, Manchester City have already begun informing sponsorship partners that Guardiola’s departure is imminent, with reports suggesting the news has become an “open secret” among people close to the manager.

The report added that an official announcement is expected sometime on Sunday, potentially ahead of Monday’s planned open-top bus parade celebrating Guardiola’s achievements at the club.

Since arriving at Manchester City in 2016, Guardiola has transformed the club into one of Europe’s dominant forces, winning multiple Premier League titles, domestic cups and the UEFA Champions League while redefining English football with his tactical philosophy.
