Governor Adeleke Deposes Osun Monarch Jailed for 56 months in US for COVID Fraud

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has deposed the Apetu of Ipetumodu, Oba Joseph Oloyede, following his conviction and imprisonment for fraud in the United States.

The monarch was convicted of tax fraud by a US District Court in the Northern District of Ohio on August 26, 2025, and sentenced to 56 months in prison. Governor Adeleke’s decision came after receiving the Certified True Copy of the Ohio court judgment.

The deposition order stated that the monarch’s “fraudulent conduct… and his public trial and conviction have brought the institution of Obaship… to disrepute and public odium.”
