Gov Sule

Nasarawa United management have been issued a stern warning by Nasarawa State governor Abdullahi Sule following reports of crowd trouble during their clash with Rivers United.

The incident occurred at the Lafia City Stadium on Monday, raising concerns about potential disciplinary action against the club. Speaking during a visit to the team on Tuesday, Governor Sule condemned the situation and warned against any actions that could undermine the club’s progress.

He expressed frustration over reports that some top officials were involved in disputes during the match, describing the development as unacceptable.

“It’s quite unfortunate, and I won’t tolerate that whatsoever,” Sule said. “We cannot continue to put in our best as a team and as a state, only for some individuals, driven by selfish interests, to engage in actions that could lead to sanctions or points deduction.”

The governor stressed that maintaining discipline and protecting the club’s reputation must be a priority, especially as penalties from league authorities could derail their ambitions.

He issued a strong warning that any individual found culpable would face serious consequences.

“Let me make it very clear: the day our teams—Nasarawa United or Nasarawa Amazons—are punished due to the actions of a few individuals, I will take drastic action against those responsible,” he added.

The statement underscores growing concerns about fan and official conduct in Nigerian football, as authorities continue to emphasise discipline to safeguard the integrity of the league.
