Gombe ADC Warns Nafiu Bala, Gives Him 48 Hours to Resign

By Tgnews Reporter

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Youth Network in Gombe State has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Nafiu Bala, the party’s former governorship candidate, demanding that he immediately reverse his recent statements and formally accept his alleged resignation from the party.

The directive, issued on Monday, comes amid a bitter leadership crisis that has split the ADC nationally and reportedly prompted the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognise the faction led by Bala while rejecting the camp aligned with former Senate President David Mark.

In a strongly worded press statement, the Convener of the Gombe ADC Youth Network, Abubakar Galafi, accused Bala of masterminding an internal “hijack of democracy” and undermining the party’s unity and credibility.

“Today, we speak with outrage and clear conviction on behalf of the youth and grassroots members of the African Democratic Congress who refuse to be silent while democracy is being hijacked from within,” Galafi said.

He described Bala’s actions as “a deliberate assault on the very democratic values the ADC stands for,” claiming the former governorship candidate had disregarded legal pronouncements and party procedures.

The group alleged that Bala had aligned himself with forces working against the stability of the party.

The crisis escalated following the alleged handover of ADC leadership by the party’s founder and former national chairman, Ralph Nwosu, and then-Deputy National Chairman Nafiu Bala to Senator David Mark.

Youth leaders in Gombe insist the ultimatum is non-negotiable and warned that failure by Bala to comply within 48 hours would attract further drastic measures from the grassroots.

The development is the latest fallout from the prolonged leadership tussle rocking the ADC, raising fresh questions about the party’s preparedness for the 2027 general elections.
