Globen School celebrates Cocoa Products Day

Globen School marked its annual Cocoa Products Day on Friday, February 13, 2026, an event held in place of the traditional Valentine’s Day celebrations.

The initiative, sponsored by Top Choco Ghana, highlighted the strategic importance of cocoa to both Ghana’s economy and national identity.

The programme aimed to instill in students the values of sharing, generosity, and mutual care, all of which are symbolised by cocoa.

Assistant Headmistress Fortune Dzormeku explained that the event was designed not only to celebrate cocoa but to raise awareness about Ghana’s rich cocoa heritage.

“The initiative sought to raise awareness of Ghana’s cocoa heritage while promoting values symbolised by cocoa products,” she said. “Activities included the exchange of cocoa-based items, poetry recitals on cocoa’s origins and economic benefits, and a practical chocolate-making demonstration.”

Mrs. Dzormeku also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of cocoa farmers, whose hard work sustains one of Ghana’s key economic sectors.

“Cocoa farmers are the backbone of this sector, and this event is a small way to acknowledge their tireless efforts. Without their dedication, cocoa would not be the thriving industry it is today,” she added.

Headmaster Delali Yeboah highlighted that the programme provided students with both educational and practical exposure to the cocoa value chain.

“The programme provided learners with both educational and practical exposure to the cocoa value chain,” Yeboah said. “Students showcased chocolate, cocoa tea, and cocoa-infused snacks while participating in quizzes and interactive sessions.”

The celebration also aimed to spark innovation and inspire students to explore future opportunities within Ghana’s thriving cocoa industry.

“It’s important for them to understand how cocoa is intertwined with Ghana’s economic development,” Mr. Yeboah remarked.

The school’s authorities expressed their sincere appreciation to Top Choco Ghana for sponsoring the event, noting that their support was instrumental in the programme’s success.
