KRC Genk manager Thorsten Fink has confirmed that Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare is on the verge of leaving the club, with Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers reported to have opened talks for his signature.

Arokodare was left out of Genk’s UEFA Europa Conference League squad against Lech Poznan on Thursday night to avoid any potential risks. Fink explained that the decision was necessary, as ongoing negotiations made it unwise to involve the striker.

“Negotiations are underway. There’s a club interested. It was too risky for both parties to play,” Fink told HLN. “We’re working with players I know can give it their all, not with guys who might be preoccupied. It was better for everyone to leave Tolu out of the squad.”

The 24-year-old has attracted interest from several top European clubs following an outstanding season in Belgium. He finished as the league’s top scorer with 21 goals and was named the best African player in the Belgian Pro League. Reports have also linked him with the likes of Manchester United, Bayern Munich, AC Milan, and Napoli.
