A gas cylinder explosion at a mattress and foam manufacturing site inside the Ogun–Guangdong Free Trade Zone (OGFTZ) triggered a major fire early on Sunday, January 11, 2026, causing panic among workers and nearby residents.

The incident reportedly occurred around 8:00 a.m., when a gas cylinder detonated in the mattress section of the industrial park, unleashing thick smoke and flames that quickly engulfed parts of the facility and damaged surrounding properties.

Emergency Response and Safety Actions
Firefighters and police responded: Operatives from the Ogun State Fire Service and the Ogun State Police Command were dispatched to the scene to contain the blaze and maintain order.

Fire contained: Authorities said the fire has since been brought under control and normalcy restored to the area.
