Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has presented a proposed 2026 Appropriation Bill of N1.854 trillion to the Rivers State House of Assembly, with a strong focus on infrastructure development, economic expansion and improved welfare for residents.

Presenting the budget on Friday, Governor Fubara said the proposal, tagged “Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development,” is designed to consolidate the state’s economic progress, accelerate critical infrastructure projects and enhance the quality of life of Rivers people.

According to the governor, the proposed budget reflects his administration’s commitment to sustaining economic growth while investing in projects that will stimulate development across all sectors of the state’s economy.

A breakdown of the budget shows that N413.11 billion has been earmarked for recurrent expenditure to fund the day-to-day operations of government, while N1.405 trillion has been allocated to capital expenditure, representing the larger share of the budget and underscoring the administration’s emphasis on infrastructure and long-term development.

Governor Fubara stated that the significant capital allocation demonstrates his government’s resolve to fast-track the delivery of critical projects, expand public infrastructure and promote inclusive development throughout Rivers State.

He noted that the 2026 fiscal proposal is intended to build resilience within the state’s economy by supporting investments that will drive productivity, create opportunities and improve public services.

The governor expressed confidence that the appropriation bill would receive the necessary legislative consideration, paving the way for the implementation of programmes and projects aimed at fostering sustainable growth and improving the welfare of the people of Rivers State.
