FRC to Host 2026 Audit and Assurance Leadership Summit on AI, Financial Reporting Integrity

The Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRC) has announced plans to convene the 2026 Audit and Assurance Leadership Summit, bringing together leading audit professionals, regulators, corporate executives, policymakers, academics, and other key stakeholders to examine the future of auditing in the age of artificial intelligence.

The summit, themed “Audit Integrity in the AI Era: Independence, Accountability and Reliable Financial Reporting,” is scheduled to hold on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Lagos Marriott Hotel, Ikeja.

According to the Council, the event comes at a time when artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming audit processes and reshaping financial reporting, making the principles of integrity, independence, accountability, and transparency more critical than ever.

The summit is expected to serve as a high-level platform for participants to discuss emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities presented by AI in the auditing profession, while promoting best practices that enhance confidence in corporate reporting and governance.

Participants will engage in keynote presentations, strategic panel discussions, capacity-building sessions, and practical knowledge-sharing designed to strengthen the quality and reliability of financial reporting. The event will also provide networking opportunities for professionals across the public and private sectors to exchange ideas on the evolving audit landscape.

The FRC said the discussions would focus on safeguarding audit independence, reinforcing accountability mechanisms, and ensuring that technological innovation supports, rather than compromises, the credibility of financial reporting.

The Council encouraged interested professionals and stakeholders to register ahead of the summit and join conversations that will help shape the future of audit and assurance in Nigeria’s increasingly digital economy.
