Former Nun Marries Catholic Priest After Falling in Love While Battling Depression

A former nun and a Catholic priest have captured global attention after revealing that they fell in love and got married following years of service in the Church.

The woman, Lais Dognini, shared that she first met her now-husband, Jackson Dognini, when he offered to pray for her during her struggle with depression. What began as a kind gesture eventually blossomed into a deep connection built on faith, friendship, and mutual understanding.

According to the couple, they met over six years ago while serving in the same missionary spaces, but they hardly spoke beyond a polite “hello.” At the time, Jackson was training for the priesthood, spending five years in the seminary, while Lais was living in a Carmelite convent, dedicating her life to prayer and service.

Lais explained that she later fell into depression, which led her to leave the convent and return home to focus on her recovery. It was then that Jackson reached out to her, sending a heartfelt message saying he was praying for her healing.

Their bond slowly deepened, and by April 2024, they began dating. After a few months of courtship, they got engaged in October 2024 and finally tied the knot in March 2025.
