Walmart-owned ecommerce giant Flipkart has appointed Vinay Vaidya as senior vice-president of technology for supply chain, as the e-commerce company looks to strengthen its technology leadership and advance its AI, platform and supply chain capabilities.

Vaidya will lead technology and platforms across fulfilment services, seller experience, trust and safety, and marketplace. He will also drive innovation in logistics and AI-powered capabilities, the company said.

He joins Flipkart from Tata Digital, where he was chief technology officer (CTO) and led technology strategy, platform modernisation and large-scale digital transformation programmes.

Before that, Vaidya spent nearly 18 years at Amazon, where he helped build capabilities across marketplace, seller ecosystem, payments, search and browse, and Amazon India. His experience spans product, engineering, customer experience and supply chain functions across categories including grocery.

The appointment follows several senior technology hires at Flipkart this year. These include Goda Ramkumar as vice-president of data science and AI solutions, Mohan Palisetti as vice-president of fintech and payments engineering, Nitesh Jain as distinguished architect, Smita Ojha as vice-president of core platform engineering, and Amit Sharma as vice-president of programme management.

Balaji Thiagarajan, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Flipkart, said, “Commerce has transformed beyond purchases and transactions. Today, the quality of the customer experience is determined by thousands of decisions made across supply chains, seller ecosystems, trust systems, and fulfilment networks, often before the order is placed. Building and evolving those systems at India's scale requires a strong combination of product thinking, technology depth, and operational rigour with pervasive intelligence embedded in every step. Vinay has led at that intersection across some of the most complex commerce environments, and he will play an important role in helping us strengthen the technology foundations that power Flipkart's next phase of growth.”

What excites me most about Flipkart is the opportunity to build technology at a scale and complexity that is uniquely Indian. From empowering millions of sellers to enabling one of the country’s largest supply chains, technology has the potential to make commerce simpler, faster and more inclusive. I’m excited to join the team and help build the next generation of platforms that power this journey,” said Vinay Vaidya, Senior Vice President, Technology for Supply Chain, Flipkart.
