Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted a vehicle conveying a large quantity of Cannabis Sativa during operations in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State. Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, who disclosed this in a statement on 1 December 2025, said the operation was carried out as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks linked to banditry. According to the statement, the vehicle was transporting illegal drugs from Ekiti State to Borno State.  The driver, identified as Hamisu Sule, attempted to flee after sighting the checkpoint but was pursued and arrested along the ApataLokoja axis in Lokoja Local Government Area.  As part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks strongly affiliated to banditry and sundry crimes in order to enhance security across Kogi State, troops of 12 Brigade Nigerian Army have successfully intercepted a vehicle conveying a large quantity of Cannabis Sativa during operations in the Agbede response area of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, the statement read.  "On 1 December 2025, troops on patrol intercepted a red Toyota Camry with registration number ABJ 325LA transporting illegal substances from Ekiti State to Borno State.  "The driver, identified as Mr. Hamisu Sule, attempted to evade arrest by fleeing upon sighting the troops check point employed intermittently along transit routes to frustrate the use of such routes as a transit corridor. The vehicle was eventually pursued and apprehended along the ApataLokoja road in Lokoja Local Government Area. "A total of 306 parcels of Cannabis Sativa weighing 276 kilograms were recovered from the vehicle.
