The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has conducted a prompt raid on a suspected fake drinks production facility in Abia State.

The action came in the wake of a viral photo circulating on social media, revealing a factory purportedly producing counterfeit beverages.

Following the circulation of the concerning image, which depicted suspicious manufacturing practices, NAFDAC swiftly initiated an investigation.

Subsequently, a targeted operation was launched to address the reported manufacturing of adulterated beverages within the state.

During the raid, part of NAFDAC’s intensified efforts to combat the production and distribution of fake consumables, particularly beverages, the agency discovered several facilities engaged in the illicit production of various spurious drinks.

The operation, in collaboration with security agencies, uncovered clandestine production setups engaged in counterfeiting popular brands of wines, soft drinks, and other consumables.

The seized facilities were found to be operating in unhygienic conditions, utilizing questionable ingredients, recycled bottles, and cloned packaging materials, all of which raised serious concerns about the safety and authenticity of the products being manufactured.
