Fiorentina Frustrate Napoli in 1-1 Draw

Fiorentina wing-back Alex Jimenez secured a 1-1 draw for the club against Napoli on Sunday, extending coach Paolo Vanoli’s undefeated run since his return to the Florence club.

Fiorentina started aggressively, striking the crossbar twice within two minutes through Arthur Atta and Nicolo Fagioli.

However, Napoli struck first in the 23rd minute when Scottish midfielder Billy Gilmour cushioned a volley past goalkeeper David de Gea off a dropping corner kick.

Fiorentina fought back early in the second half, equalising through a deflected strike from Jimenez before both goalkeepers made crucial saves to preserve the draw.

The result moves Fiorentina to four points and leaves Napoli on seven.

The resurgence follows Vanoli’s reappointment after the club dismissed Fabio Grosso for losing his first three league fixtures.
