Fintiri Commissions Optimum Laboratory, Backs Partnership With Adamawa State University

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has endorsed a partnership between Adamawa State University, Mubi, and Optimum Laboratories Limited, Yola, as part of efforts to strengthen diagnostic services and improve healthcare delivery in the state.

Governor Fintiri made the declaration during the commissioning of the expanded Optimum Laboratories facility in Yola, which was performed on his behalf by the Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta.

Representing the governor at the event, Farauta said the partnership had become necessary given the growing healthcare needs of the state, particularly as Adamawa State University continues to expand its medical education programmes, including the College of Medicine and School of Nursing.

She commended the initiative and the foresight of the Chief Executive Officer of Optimum Laboratories, Muhammad Sani Umar, describing the facility as an important investment in the state’s healthcare system.

The governor, through his deputy, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting initiatives capable of improving healthcare services and promoting a healthier and more productive population.

He urged residents to take advantage of the diagnostic services available at the facility, noting that improved local access to quality medical diagnosis could help reduce the need for residents to travel outside the state in search of healthcare services.

The Chairman of the occasion, represented by Dr. Joshua Barde, congratulated the management of Optimum Laboratories on the achievement and called for the implementation of a robust quality management system to ensure accuracy, consistency and reliability in diagnostic services.

He said the establishment of the facility demonstrated a sustained commitment to quality diagnosis and improved healthcare delivery in Adamawa State.

In his remarks, the Chief Executive Officer of Optimum Laboratories Limited, Muhammad Sani Umar, said the facility was established to provide reliable, timely and quality diagnostic services capable of making a meaningful contribution to healthcare delivery.

According to him, the laboratory has been designed to provide a more structured, efficient and patient-focused environment for diagnostic services.

He explained that the facility brings together key laboratory functions while providing the framework for effective workforce management, quality control, equipment management, staff safety and efficient service delivery.

Umar further expressed the company’s readiness to support future expansion, adopt emerging technologies and deepen collaboration with healthcare institutions and research partners.

He reiterated the laboratory’s commitment to professionalism, responsible service and measurable impact on the health sector.

The commissioning attracted government officials, health professionals, representatives of traditional institutions, development partners and other stakeholders, including the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare.

The event marked another step towards strengthening diagnostic capacity in Adamawa State and expanding collaboration between academic institutions and private healthcare providers.
