In response to a viral video depicting a woman destroying her husband’s international passport upon his arrival at the Murtala International Airport in Lagos, the spokesperson of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, SP Josephine Adeh, has issued a strong statement advising women to exercise control over their emotions.

The incident, which has garnered significant attention on social media, shows a visibly upset woman tearing apart her husband’s passport, presumably in reaction to his alleged actions or behavior. The video has sparked a heated debate about the appropriate ways to handle marital disputes and the consequences of such impulsive actions.

Speaking on the matter on Sunday, August 11, SP Adeh unequivocally condemned the woman’s actions, stating, “I strongly condemn the woman who tore her husband’s passport in a video that has since gone viral. Regardless of what he may have done, destroying his passport won’t change his actions or make him reconsider. As women, we should learn to control our emotions.”

The police spokesperson’s statement highlights the importance of maintaining composure and seeking alternative means of resolving conflicts within relationships. Destroying official documents, such as passports, not only fails to address the underlying issues but can also lead to legal repercussions and further complicate matters.
