Father Faints During Childbirth, Recovers Moments Later to Meet Newborn

A video has gone viral online capturing the moment a father fainted while witnessing the birth of his child.

In the footage, the man, identified as Maicon Pedroso, is seen holding his wife’s hand before suddenly going limp. His wife, despite being in labor, briefly supported him under the armpits as he lost consciousness.

Medical staff quickly stepped in, with nurses calmly lowering him to the floor and attempting to revive him by lifting his legs.

According to birth photographers Patricia Vogel and Viviane Borges, the atmosphere before the incident had been relaxed.

They said: “When we arrived, they were a bit anxious, but everything was going as expected.

“It was all happening in a light, calm way, with the medical team feeling very confident and the parents too.

“Then, at 8:24am, at the exact moment the baby was born, the father fainted.”

Despite the brief scare, Maicon quickly regained consciousness and was later able to hold his newborn daughter after his wife underwent a cesarean section.

The photographers added: “We’ve been exclusively dedicated to birth photography for five years.

“We’ve documented more than 1,500 births, and this is definitely a scene we’ve seen happen a few times before.”

The incident occurred in Criciúma, Brazil.
