Edo Records Over 70 Child Defilement Cases in Seven Months

The Edo State Government has reported over 70 cases of child defilement between January and July 2026, with 50% of cases perpetrated by the victims’ fathers. Commissioner for Women Affairs Eugenia Abdallah said the minors ranged in age from 2 to 10. She revealed that a 14-year-old girl currently in state custody was impregnated by her father and is eight months pregnant.
