Eddie Kingston shoots in promo for AEW world title shot

AEW served a Thanksgiving treat by letting Eddie Kingston shoot on a live mic. The Mad King also hit story points to issue a challenge to Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship.

Kingston wrestled Katsuyori Shibata on the special Thursday episode of AEW Collision (Nov. 27, 2025). Shibata tenderized Kingston for the holiday. It isn’t cool being a jive turkey so close to Thanksgiving, so Kingston fired up to rally for the win on a DDT.

The purpose of this match was for Kingston to mow down Shibata in order to strengthen his case for a world title shot. With that business out of the way, Kingston went to promo town.

Kingston started by speaking on Hook. Despite recent developments, Hook is still Kingston’s boy. Hook made his decisions, and he will have to pay that price when Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland come to collect.

Kingston said that he was told to shoot, so he addressed the fans about accepting their love. Kingston didn’t think he deserved that love. He isn’t an actor. He doesn’t do things to get a character over. Kingston peppered in expletives to explain that he is professional wrestling. That’s why he loves the fans who love pro wrestling. He is honored to inspire kids to get into this business, albeit it with a warning not to follow his footsteps.

Kingston turned his attention to Samoa Joe. When Kingston was out injured for 18 months, he was eager to return. Fighting inside the ring is the only thing in life that gives him peace. Kingston threw down the gauntlet to challenge Joe for the AEW world title at Winter is Coming on December 10.

Kingston closed by celebrating with the kids.

That is the type of promo from Kingston that will resonate with his people. Blunt, honest, pull no punches. It’s safe to say that AEW will give the people want they want by booking this match for Winter is Coming. Joe might make Kingston jump through a few hoops before accepting, but that’s the nature of the television business.

With all that said, the most shocking thing from Kingston’s evening is turning the DDT into a finisher again.
