New Delhi: Universities and educational experts from Russia have hailed the Indo-Russian Education Summit as a resounding success, marking a significant milestone in fostering stronger ties between the two nations.

The summit, held in New Delhi, concluded on a high note, bringing together representatives from higher education institutions in Russia and India, alongside diplomats, politicians, scientists, and businessmen. The event served as a platform for exploring new avenues of cooperation in education, science, and innovative technologies, as well as facilitating training programs across various sectors of both countries’ economies.

The Indo-Russian Education Summit was organized in response to the increasing demand for enhanced collaboration between India and Russia in the education sector. It aimed to create a dialogue platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, benefiting students, academics, and institutions alike.

As part of its commitment to promoting Russian higher education and fostering scientific cooperation, Polytechnic University actively participated in the summit. Vladimir Khizhnyak, Director of the International Relations Office, represented Polytechnic University at the round table discussion on technical universities, showcasing educational programs and areas of cooperation between SPbPU and technical universities in India.

Tatiana Kasaeva, Vice Rector of Yuri Gagarin State Technical University of Saratov in Russia,  expressed gratitude for India’s support and articulated hopes for new partnerships with Indian universities. She emphasized the importance of uniting the efforts of BRICS countries’ universities to address complex global challenges.

In an interview with WNN she said, “We believe that it is necessary to unite the efforts of universities of BRICS countries to solve a number of complex problems.”

“In the era of a multipolar world, where one of the main players is the association of BRICS+ countries, Russian universities look  forward for cooperation with Indian universities, industrial enterprises and scientific clusters as an opportunity to create sustainable partnerships that promote Russian education, as well as the development of science and technology within the international community”,  Tatiana Kasaeva, Vice rector of Yuri Gagarin State Technical University of Saratov added.

Denis Alipov, the Russian envoy, highlighted the steady increase in scholarships by the Russian government for Indian students, signaling a positive trend in bilateral educational cooperation. He also underscored the significance of scientific collaboration between India and Russia, noting discussions under the BRICS umbrella.

Later this year, Russia will take up the presidency of BRICS — a grouping comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE.

Despite the successes, Alipov also stressed the need for both countries to address the mutual recognition of education as a priority issue. The three-day summit witnessed the participation of over 60 Russian universities, showcasing their programs through exhibitions and presentations.

The Indo-Russian Education Summit provided a unique opportunity for leading Indian educational institutions to engage with esteemed Russian universities, paving the way for greater collaboration and academic exchange between the two nations.
