Dubai RTA road project improves connectivity across 18 residential areas, cutting travel times by up to 40 per cent and boosting safety.

DUBAI: Dubai RTA road project has delivered a 13km network of upgraded connections across 18 residential areas, marking a significant step in enhancing urban mobility and infrastructure efficiency. The Roads and Transport Authority confirmed the works include paved access roads, improved traffic systems, roadside parking, pavements and modern street lighting.

The Dubai RTA road project was designed to support the emirate’s rapid urban expansion and population growth, while improving safety and accessibility in neighbourhoods that previously relied on unpaved routes. Officials said the upgrades have strengthened internal road networks and provided smoother, more reliable connections for daily commuters.

According to Hamad Al Shehhi, Director of Roads at the Traffic and Roads Agency, the initiative has already improved traffic flow and reduced journey times by up to 40 per cent in affected areas. This efficiency gain is expected to ease congestion and enhance the overall driving experience across residential districts.

The development spans multiple key neighbourhoods including Al Khawaneej 1, Al Barsha South 1, Nad Shamma, Jumeirah 1, Za’abeel 1, Al Rashidiya, Muhaisnah 1, Al Quoz 1, Al Satwa, Al Twar 1, Mirdif, Umm Suqeim 1, Al Mizhar 1 and Al Mizhar 2. These areas now benefit from improved accessibility, better pedestrian infrastructure and organised parking facilities.

Dubai RTA road project reflects the authority’s broader strategy to align infrastructure development with long-term urban planning goals. By focusing on connectivity and safety, the initiative supports Dubai’s ambition to maintain a high standard of living while accommodating continued growth.
