The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor accused of transporting drugs from Sokoto to kidnappers operating in parts of Kwara State.

According to a Kwara State Government press statement, the doctor was intercepted by security operatives in the Jebba axis after intelligence linked him to a supply chain serving armed criminal groups.

Officials said the doctor had been moving pharmaceutical supplies to the kidnappers, who are believed to be in urgent need of medical care, especially for gunshot wounds sustained during clashes with security forces.

Security sources warned that the criminal gangs may increasingly attempt to obtain treatment in remote health facilities.

They advised health practitioners and facility managers in forest-fringe communities to heighten security awareness, as the gangs could target such centres in search of care.
