A doctor has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for a series of sxual assaults that he filmed whilst his victims were sedated. The attacks took place in both his home and the hospital where he worked, and Zhi Alan Cheng, 35, pleaded guilty to four counts of r@pe and seven of sxual assault. The sick crimes, which saw him barred from practising medicine in the future, were first discovered back in 2022, when a female acquaintance of Cheng's found a video of him assaulting her while she was unconscious in his apartment. Police arrested Cheng after the video was uncovered. They searched his home and found extensive evidence of his crimes, the court heard. This included liquid anaesthetic, and further videos of the disgraced doctor assaulting women while they were sedated. Cheng had been working as a gastroenterologist at New York-Presbyterian Queens, and some of the videos showed him abusing female patients at the facility. He was charged with over 50 criminal counts, a press release from the Queen's District Attorney said. "Cheng committed a series of heinous acts against women," said Queen's District Attorney, Melinda Katz said. "He did so both as a private citizen, sxually assaulting women who were his intimate partners, and as a doctor, sxually assaulting vulnerable patients who came to the hospital in need of help. "As a consequence of his crimes, he will serve over two decades in prison, with 10 years of post-release supervision and must register as a sx offender, likely for the rest of his life." Katz also thanked her colleagues in the NYPD Special Victims Squad and the Special Victims Bureau for their "painstaking work on this case". She also paid tribute to the "brave survivor who came forward initially to report the defendants crimes, and the other victims who helped us to make sure no other women were hurt going forward." Alongside his 11 guilty pleas, Cheng also submitted one Alford Plea, which means he did not admit guilt, but accepted that the prosecutors had sufficient evidence to convict him. Those prosecuting Cheng have said that the hospital he worked at cooperated with their investigation against the former doctor, and that most of his victims had "no memory" of the crimes committed against them because of the sedation, per ABC News. However, "one of the women woke up in the middle of an assault after she had been sedated for a gastrointestinal procedure, prosecutors said."The post Doctor sentenced after he sxually abused sedated patients and kept sick mementoes of attacks appeared first on Linda Ikeji Blog.
