Desmond Agidiogun Gains Massive Inspiration From Declan Rice’s 2026 FIFA World Cup Exploits

The amazing exploits and impact of Arsenal midfielder, Declan Rice in England’s squad at the ongoing FIFA World Cup is serving as a huge source of inspiration in the budding career of a Lagos-based youngster, Desmond Agidiogun.

Sports247 gathered that the fast-rising teenager, who currently plays as a defensive midfielder with Goal Getters Football Academy, is hoping to take after Rice as a World Cup star, but aspires to do with Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

He also recalls watching Rice make his mark as a set piece specialist with Arsenal last season in the English Premier League and has now stepped up with battling efforts for The Three Lions at the Mundial.

While noting that Rice even made a difference playing from right-back during England’s 2-1 win over DR Congo on Wednesday, Agidiogun, who is just 17 years and nine months old, started thinking big about soon creating a similar impact with the Super Eagles.

The youngster, who was born in Warri on October 22, 2008 but hails from Ondo State, has also proven to be versatile as a central midfielder and box-to-box schemer, as he seeks to create top marks on all fronts while showing his skills on the pitch.

He concluded by disclosing that his prayer for success in football is not just for himself and his family, but also because he has a bold vision of putting something back into the society that produced him.

Agidiogun, who also admires former Liverpool winger, Phillipe Coutinho, disclosed: “My goal for this football journey is to go very far. I am driven to play at the highest level and build a global legacy through football.

“I already play the game with lots of zeal and complete commitment to succeed for myself and my family. I also want to give back to communities in the interiors of Nigeria.

“I want to help in developing communities like the one I come from, and I believe I can do it through football. It is my path to a better life, and I am determined to make it with hard work and discipline.”
