English referee Anthony Taylor, who was announced to have been demoted to the English championship, has been confirmed as the referee who would officiate the premier league fixture, Chelsea vs Man City.

Anthony Taylor, who officiated his first English Championship match since 2019 following his controversial decision in the Newcastle vs Wolves fixture, where he awarded a penalty to Newcastle last month, has been confirmed as the official who will officiate the biggest premier league fixture this weekend, Chelsea vs Man City alongside Jarred Gillett on who would be on VAR duties. Jarred Gillett is also not free from controversies, as he had also been on VAR duties when the dubious penalty was awarded to Newcastle.

The report came as a surprise to fans as Anthony Taylor, while in the championship last weekend, had also awarded a strange penalty to  Preston regardless of replays indicating that the Coventry captain Kyle McFadzean had made minimal contact with Milutin Osmajic in the area. Preston won the fixture by 3-2.

Anthony Taylor is often known for his controversies in any Chelsea-related fixture, which is why fans have expressed concerns about this recent development.
