Deadly Crash: Military Helicopter Crash In Russia Leaves Entire Crew Dead

An Mi-28 military helicopter has tragically crashed in the Kaluga region of southwestern Russia, resulting in the death of its crew, according to reports from two Russian news agencies on Thursday.

The TASS news agency, quoting a source from the defence ministry, confirmed the incident, stating, “An Mi-28 crashed in the Kaluga region, and the crew died.

Interfax news agency, citing a defence ministry statement, provided additional details, indicating that a “technical malfunction” was the preliminary cause of the disaster.

The helicopter went down in a forested area approximately 150 kilometres (93 miles) from the Ukrainian border, as reported by a local official to TASS.

In a related development, a passenger plane carrying 19 individuals, including aircrew, crashed during takeoff at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday morning.

The Saurya Airlines flight was en route to Pokhara, a significant tourism hub in the Himalayan nation when it met with the accident at around 11:15 am local time (0530 GMT).

Nepal’s military confirmed the incident in a statement, highlighting that rescue operations are ongoing with the assistance of the army’s quick response team.

Police in the Nepali Capital confirmed that the pilot was rescued from the flaming wreckage, but all 18 others aboard were killed.

The plane reportedly caught fire after skidding on the runway, producing a substantial plume of smoke, as reported by local news portal, Khabarhub.
