Dead body of young man found in Eshiem

Residents of Eshiem, a community near Kojokrom in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, have been left in shock following the discovery of the lifeless body of a 24-year-old man, Ebenezer Donkor.

His body was found on Sunday morning under a high-tension pole with visible bruises and marks, raising suspicions of a possible beating before his death.

Family members say Ebenezer left home on Saturday afternoon with two neighbours, known only as Hamza and Pistol, in search of work.

However, only the two returned the next day without him.

According to his landlady, the pair claimed they had been attacked by unidentified individuals who attempted to rob them.

They said they fled, leaving Ebenezer behind.

But while leading family members to the alleged scene, both Hamza and Pistol reportedly disappeared.

Ebenezer’s mother, Theresa Baidoo, who was visibly distraught, shared her grief.

“He is my first child. I always warned him about his friends, but he would not listen. This evening, I was told he had gone missing, and we later found his lifeless body,” she said.

His girlfriend, Naomi Andoh, who is one month pregnant, recalled her last moments with him.

She said he left home with the two neighbours around 4 p.m. and never returned.

Community members suspect foul play. Hamza is said to be a known thief in the area, and some believe Ebenezer may have been unknowingly lured into criminal activity.

The Assembly Member for the area, Bismark Eshun, expressed concern over rising theft cases and called for urgent action to address community safety.

Police are yet to issue an official statement as the body has been taken to the mortuary for further investigations.
