FEBRUARY — DAY 24: PRAYING FOR ALL PEOPLE & NATIONS — GOD’S GLOBAL HEART
Date: Tuesday, February 24, 2026

Focus Scripture:
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men.” — 1 Timothy 2:1

What You Will Walk Away With

  1. Global Perspective — You will understand that God’s heart has always been for all people and nations, and that prayer is meant to reflect His redemptive mission.
  2. Mission Alignment — You will see how praying beyond your own concerns aligns your heart with what God is doing in the world.
  3. Broadened Vision — You will experience a prayer life that expands beyond personal and local needs to embrace the nations.

Devotional

Prayer that ends with self is incomplete. It is not wrong to pray for your own needs—Jesus taught us to ask for daily bread. But if your prayer vocabulary contains no names beyond your own circle, your heart has yet to grasp the full scope of God’s purpose.

From the beginning, God’s redemptive plan has been global. He called Abraham and promised that “in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:3). The prophets envisioned a day when “the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14). The Psalms call every nation to praise Him. The story of Scripture is not about one people—it is about one God redeeming people from every tribe, tongue, and nation.

Paul commands Timothy—and through him, the Church—to make prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings “for all men.” Not just for believers. Not just for friends. Not just for those who share our culture or language. For all.

When believers pray for the world, they participate in God’s mission. They are not informing God of needs He does not know—they are aligning their hearts with His purposes. They are cultivating in themselves the compassion of Christ, who looked at crowds and “had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd” (Matthew 9:36).

Praying for nations:

  • Cultivates compassion. It is difficult to remain indifferent to people you regularly bring before the throne. Prayer softens the heart toward those you have never met.
  • Aligns hearts with God’s purposes. When you pray for the spread of the Gospel, you are not asking God to do something He is unwilling to do—you are joining what He is already doing.
  • Prepares the way for Gospel advance. Prayer is not the only work of mission, but it is the work that undergirds every other work. The Word spreads where prayer has gone before.

Intercession for the world keeps the Church outward-focused. It prevents us from becoming a holy huddle, warmed by our own fellowship but indifferent to those outside. Prayer becomes a bridge between heaven and the nations—a conduit through which God’s purposes flow.

Here is the foundation for every prayer for the world: Jesus died for the world.

Not for a select few. Not for one ethnicity or culture. John declares that He is “the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:2). The Lamb of God takes away the sin of the world. The Great Commission sends us to all nations. The vision of Revelation shows a multitude “from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne” (Revelation 7:9).

When we pray globally, we echo Christ’s redemptive heart. We say, with our words and our attention, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” We declare that we care about what He cares about—the salvation of the lost, the healing of nations, the worship of every tongue.

Prayer expands the heart to love what God loves. And God loves the world.

Prayer

Father,
Let Your will be done among the nations. Draw all people to Yourself—not through compulsion, but through the beauty of the Gospel. Stir Your Church to pray with global vision and to go with holy courage. Open doors for the Word to spread, and raise up laborers for the harvest. Let my heart break for what breaks Yours.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Declaration

  • I declare that my prayers will reflect God’s global heart, reaching beyond my own needs to embrace the nations.
  • I declare that I will pray for leaders, governments, and peoples I have never met, trusting God to work through my intercession.
  • I declare that because Jesus died for the world, I will pray for the world—and go, give, or send as He leads.

Action Points

  1. Pray for a nation today. Choose one country—perhaps one in the news, one with little Gospel witness, or one God places on your heart—and spend time praying for its people, leaders, and churches.
  2. Include leaders and governments. Use 1 Timothy 2:1-2 as a guide. Pray for those in authority, not based on your political views, but because God commands it and desires their salvation.
  3. Ask God how you can participate. Prayer often leads to action. Ask the Lord: Is there more You want me to do—give, go, send, or advocate—for the nations? Be ready to listen and obey.

Memory Verse
“Ask of me, and I will make the nations your heritage, and the ends of the earth your possession.” — Psalm 2:8
