APRIL — DAY 2: The Object of Faith

Date: Thursday, April 2, 2026

Focus Scripture:
“For he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” — Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

What You Will Walk Away With

  1. Faith’s Strength Is in Its Object — You will discover that faith is not powerful because of how strongly it is held, but because of who it rests upon.
  2. Two Essential Truths About God — You will understand that coming to God requires believing both that He exists and that He rewards those who seek Him.
  3. Misplaced Trust vs. Anchored Faith — You will learn that faith is weakened not by questions, but by misplaced trust in self, systems, people, or outcomes.

Devotional

Faith is not powerful because of how strongly it is held, but because of who it rests upon.

A child gripping her father’s hand tightly does not stay safe because her grip is strong, but because her father’s hand is strong. A rope does not hold a climber because the climber holds it tightly, but because the rope is securely anchored. In the same way, your faith is not ultimately about the strength of your believing—it is about the trustworthiness of the One you believe.

Scripture is clear: faith must be directed toward God. Faith placed in the wrong object—self, systems, people, or outcomes—will eventually disappoint. It may feel secure for a season. It may produce results for a time. But when pressure comes, misplaced trust crumbles.

Hebrews 11:6 tells us what faith must believe about God. Two truths are essential.

First: “He is.” God exists. He is real. He is not a concept, a feeling, or a projection of human longing. He is the self-existent, eternal, living God who spoke the universe into being and holds all things together by His power. Faith begins with the conviction that God is.

Second: “He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.” God is not distant or indifferent. He responds to those who seek Him. He rewards—not because He owes us, but because He is good. He is not merely the God who exists; He is the God who engages, who draws near, who meets those who come to Him.

Together, these two truths form the foundation of biblical faith. Without the first, there is no one to trust. Without the second, there is no reason to trust.

Biblical faith begins with confidence in God’s existence, character, and faithfulness. It trusts that God is who He says He is and that He responds faithfully to those who seek Him.

Faith is weakened not by questions, but by misplaced trust.

You can have many questions and still have strong faith—because your trust is in God, not in having all the answers. But you can have no questions and still have weak faith—if your trust is actually in your own understanding, your circumstances, or your ability to make sense of things.

The issue is not the absence of doubt, but the presence of trust in the right object.

Christ-Centered Focus

Jesus constantly redirected faith toward God. He never taught faith in methods or formulas, but faith in the Father.

When the disciples asked Him to increase their faith, He did not give them a technique. He pointed them to God. When people wanted signs and formulas, He called them to trust the Father. His entire ministry was a demonstration of perfect trust in God.

Christ Himself is the clearest revelation of God’s trustworthiness. In Jesus, we see that God is real—He became flesh and dwelt among us. In Jesus, we see that God rewards those who seek Him—He raised His Son from the dead and seated Him at His right hand. In Jesus, we see the object of faith made visible.

Conclusion

Faith is only as strong as the One in whom it is placed. Place your faith in God—not in outcomes, not in systems, not in your own ability. He is real. He rewards those who seek Him. And He has revealed Himself fully in Jesus Christ.

Prayer

Lord, purify my faith. Remove misplaced confidence and anchor my trust fully in You. Help me to believe that You are real, and that You are good—and to rest my hope not in outcomes, but in You alone.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

Declaration

  • I declare that my faith is not about the strength of my grip, but about the trustworthiness of the One I hold.
  • I declare that God is real, and God rewards those who seek Him—both truths anchor my faith.
  • I declare that I will redirect my trust from outcomes to God Himself.

Action Points

  1. Examine where your trust truly lies. Ask: “In what or whom am I placing my ultimate confidence?”
  2. Redirect faith from outcomes to God Himself. Identify one outcome you have been trusting in, and consciously release it to God.
