FEBRUARY — DAY 1: WHAT IS PRAYER? (PRAYER AS WORSHIP)
Date: Sunday, February 1, 2026

Focus Scripture:
“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” — John 4:24

What You Will Walk Away With

  1. A clear, biblical understanding of prayer as worshipful communion with God, not just a list of requests.
  2. Freedom from reducing prayer to a mere ritual, duty, or emergency tool.
  3. A renewed vision of prayer as relational, spiritual worship that aligns your heart with God’s nature.

Devotional
Many believers pray, yet few understand prayer. Some see prayer as asking. Others see it as pleading. But Scripture reveals something deeper: prayer is worship expressed through relationship. Prayer is not first a request; it is a response to God’s self-revelation.

Before prayer becomes asking for needs, seeking answers, or fighting battles, it is turning toward God in reverent communion. True prayer flows from who God is: He is Father → prayer is relationship. He is King → prayer is reverence. He is Spirit → prayer is spiritual, not mechanical. When prayer is separated from worship, it becomes dry duty. When worship fuels prayer, it becomes living fellowship. This is why prayer is not measured by length, volume, or emotion—but by alignment of heart with God.

Jesus did not introduce prayer as a formula but as access: “When you pray, say: Our Father…” (Luke 11:2). Prayer begins where worship begins—in knowing God as Father through Christ.

Prayer
Father,
Teach me to pray as one who truly knows You.
Draw my heart into genuine worship, and lead me by Your Spirit to pray beyond mere words and routine, into deep communion with You.
Amen.

Declaration

  • I declare that my prayer is first an act of worship to God, who is Spirit and Truth.
  • I declare that I am freed from a transactional view of prayer and enter into relational communion with my Father.
  • I declare that my heart is aligned with God in spirit and truth as I pray.

Action Points

  1. Begin your prayer time today with 5 minutes of pure worship—no requests. Acknowledge who God is (His character, His works) and express your love and reverence for Him.
  2. Remove the pressure to “perform” or use impressive words. Focus simply on being present before God, knowing He receives you as you are.
  3. Let one prayer today be entirely relational. Talk to God about your day, your thoughts, or your gratitude, as you would to a loving parent, before bringing any need to Him.

Memory Verse
“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” — John 4:23
