Cybercab’s RIM Body Panels Cut Emissions 35%

Tesla’s Cybercab uses Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) body panels with color molded directly into the parts, eliminating the need for a traditional paint shop. Tesla says this cuts manufacturing time from hours to minutes while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 35% for those parts and eliminating 100% of the VOC emissions normally produced during painting.

Cleaner, faster manufacturing could lower production costs while reducing the environmental impact of building EVs.

My car skips the paint shop… meanwhile I’m still waiting three weeks for a body shop to fix one scratch. <div class= Read Original
